Winter Suit

Well...I haven't updated on winter running wear yet because I went to the doctor and he post-poned my running for a bit...a loose knee cap and inflammation are putting my running on hold....HOWEVER...good news...

The January 2011 issue of Runner's arrived at my house (SIGH) and its all about cold gear!!

Check it out:

Check it out!! Now it shows cold gear according to the region but the truth is us Texans will wear super cold gear when its 4o degrees...we wont wait for it too be 5 degrees!!!

The good new: they list alot of these things from about $40-160...thats a lot of cash we might not all have so here are some places I go for a cheaper version that still keeps me warm!!

on772827-03p01v01.jpg
so this vest can be found HERE for $12.99 or if you watch the store as cheap as $5 ( I paid $5 on black friday!!!)

Also- check out their pants...pretty great

on772849-00p01v01.jpg
$16.50 at Old Navy!!!

Some things I wont go cheap on:
Socks- a good pair of running socks can be about $10 but its worth it because it protects your feet well.
Running GU or Chomps- yum yum and totally worth paying to fuel with these on runs over 8 miles!
I bough a camelbak recently and it was the best decision I have ever made!!

Happy RUNNING!!

Turn Up the HEAT

SO I am currently making coffee and breakfast after an AWESOME morning run with this LADY!!! Who we should ALL encourage to get her blog going!!! Because she is so talented!

Anyway..back to the point of this post. Is anyone else nuts about turning on the heat? I make this competition with myself to make it as long as possible. I like to believe that since I spent winters in Nebraska as a child in negativve 20...I can handle anything.

However....this insane need to wait has caused me to literally carry around a small $20 space heater from Target like its my blankie and wear socks and ear warmers at all times. Currently the space hearter is sitting on my bar in my kitchen blowing warm air on me...hmm. Not really roughing it huh?>

Anyway back to the original post...how many of you want to run through the winter season but A) its too cold you will freeze your hinney or B) think winter running gear is too expensive? Well I am a wheeler and dealer when it comes to all clothes so check back in the next few days for my winter gear because its totally affordable so get on the Internet and plan a spring race. Maybe you would like to join me for my first ever marathon HERE~~ or do the Rock n Roll Dallas- they have a half marathon and a half marathon relay! That is what the hubs and i plan on doing!!!

Tune in soon!

Have a great day bloggers!

TERRA-ific

Ok so this is in NO BIG FAT WAY my attempts to be a food blog...I am not that good so don't think-" seriously Dana- now you want to do that!?!"

No- I am not that good but if you want some good food blogs go to Emily and Jennifer because they are my latest obsessions for when I am hungry for some food blog LOVE!!

Anyway this is the blog that contains events of Dana K and the events I do!! So the latest event of my life was this discovery:
Terra and I- love at first sight!!! These are half the calories of sun-chips (150 per serving) and are made from veggies, you get a full serving of veggies as you see above and are a great alternative for that end of the work day, post gym salty craving you may get (like me :))

I am that girl that snacks while she cooks so sometimes when dinner is ready I am no longer hungry...opps! Well these have helped me eat something that doesn't have too many calories and be just enough to hold me over until what I am cooking is done!!!

Happy December!!!

Black Friday High....

Well I am TERRIBLE at taking pictures and documenting big events...mostly because I get very stuck in the moment...and Black Friday was QUITE the moment...

So I had lots of feelings as I spread the newspaper adds out on Thanksgiving morning. I was getting ready for the trot with my fam...total success see below...
Maria, Me, Sister, and Al...it was a blast with the 30,000 other Dallasites

Ok....so back to black FRI....
I saw that...
Old Navy opened at midnight
Target opened at 4am
Ulta opened at 6am
and then all my mall stops opened at 8am...

dilemma...since old navy would only talk about 45 min and that would leave quite the gap between old navy and target...so here is what my mom the excellent trooper did:

11pm- 30 min nap
11:45pm- leave for Old Navy
12am- get to old navy just in time to run in with the other crazies and purchase the following for a grand total of $70...7 pairs of warm fuzzy socks, two running vests, one party cardi, one child onsie, one sparkle tank, one wool coat....um yes marvel in amazement.

12:45am- finish at target...decide to run to Walmart (not so crazy yet) and purchase a blue ray player with wifi for $80...great purchase momma

1:15am- lots of time and already feeling tired....so...we hit 7-11 for some grande vanilla sugar-filled cappuccinos and pop tarts....next it gets crazy
1:30am- arrive at Target and join the small line that has formed...so we didn't want anything to big...but we are a go big or go home family so we wrapped up in a blanket with our coffee and pop tarts, made new friends, stayed freezing and wide awake for 2.5 HOURS!!!
Are you impressed yet? I was definitely impressed with us!!!
4am- Target doors open and several people try to cut but us troopers yell, "No!!!" and we rush into target!!! I was so proud of my mom and I- we split the list to divide and conquer and we did good. Here is what we got with $650 of savings:

40 inch LCD flat screen: $298
Phillips Ipod speaker doc: $70
2 sets of 700 thread count sheets: $30 (each)
King feather down: $25
Channel Throw: $10
Several movies: $4 (each)
Several TV seasons: $12 (each)
Friends seasons 1, 4,5,10: $10 (each)
Winter gloves: $1.50
Pillows: $20 (amazing!!!)
V-neck t-shirts: $6
Sleep sets: $5

5:15am- drive across town in search for a starbucks because our Target High was wearing off at this point and we weren't sure we would make it. So we drove across Plano and finally found a starbucks...can I get an AMEN!!

5:50am- sit outside of Ulta and wait for it to open...OMG so worth it!! We got great deals on Smash Mouth, Stila, and great stocking stuffers...woot woot!!!

7:am- arrive back to my moms house and CRASSSSHHH....

11am- wake up, see jeff, shower and hit the mall!!

I hit Michael's, Victoria Secret, Gap, Bath and Body Works, and finished all my Christmas shopping but one gift. I did a few online purchases if stores were out of things I wanted and let me just say- it was SOOO worth it!!!!!

Now my apartment is decorated for Christmas- see the awesomeness below:

Lots of Black Friday PRIDE lay in and around that tree!!

Now its time for the post thanksgiving and pre Christmas/Marathon prep diet and work out!!! Tune in for updates on how it goes!!

Black to the FRIIIIIIIday

I'm toooo EXCITED to SLEEP........

BLACK Friday is in 4 daysssss...o to the mg.

First of all...if you have an iPhone...download one of these! this will let you know the hott deals and the items that all the crazy shoppers will be going crazy like this for:

First: Everyone will be in line at target at 4am for several different HOTT deals on these:

Seriously...they have an LCD 40 inch going for $299...is that worth no sleep and being up with crazy peeps at 4am...um DUH!!!!

Still mapping out all my stops...I will put my map and must stops and shopping list here if you are a rookie...I have been doing this for the past 10 years so I have for sure learned a few things!!

Definitely hitting target first for- electronics (the sweet flat screen), $1 and $5 movies (new releases too), Christmas decorations, and kitchen gear

Next probably Ulta or Old Navy for stocking stuffers at Ulta and $5 scarves and 50% coats at Old Navy!!!!!!

Definitely Victoria Secret- they give free totes with every purchase and great sample sizes of their new scents + bras are usually on sale!!

Next we hit the mall and shop by department store....

MORE TO COME!! I JUST LOVE BLACK FRIDAY!!

Black FRIDAY tips and prep..

OMG!!! LOVE ME SOME BLACK FRIDAY...

This Friday will be exactly TWO WEEKS AWAY...can I get a AMEN!!!?!

Ok so how do you prep?

1. Stop shopping and save ALL money you would have spent for black Friday deals!!

2. Check out the "hot items" of the seasons coming soon HERE!!!! To know where to go and what to look for.

3. BUY a news paper Thanksgiving day and you will get the most adds you have ever seen in your life. O.M.G....I heart thanksgiving day adds so much. They are basically fully catalogs...I mean I drool over them when I see the news paper on the front porch.

4. See what your most important items are, the best give aways and then map your course...I know it sounds crazy if you never participate but if you are a go big or go home girl....YOU MUST ADOPT the black Friday ritual. You will never be the same. I typically hit target first because they have the $1 -$10 DVDs and the flat screen that is on sale for like $200 and the camera that is $99 and then I head to the mall and remain there until about 1 in the afternoon.

Places to avoid like the plague unless you are absolutely desperate:

-Kohl's...omg one year I went here for ornaments....big FAT NOT WORTH IT!!! The line was literally wrapped around the store and women were monsters in my nightmares...
-Best Buy...omg these are like the people who wait in line for the dark shadows convention...CRAZY. They camp out all night and you feel like you are part of a cult...it can be a fruitful trip but be ready for the experience.
-The Allen Outlet mall...this is a PERFECT place on a regular day but at 12am when it opens...DISAPPOINTMENT. Sales are no different, clothes are the exact same but people are like VAMPIRES.

TUNE IN FOR the HOTTTTTT Items!!!!

J to the HOTTIE!!!

Hey fans,

I know I know...it's terrible that I haven't posted in about 3 weeks...I've just been so BUSY!!! Having a BALL launching my newest sector of entrepreneurial Dana, J HILBURN!!! I love it! Get your man is some of this YUMMY GEAR!! Pictures of my yummy man to come!

In all seriousness there is nothing like seeing a man wear a standard, off the rack shirt and then seeing him in a custom (affordable) shirt! He looks and feels like a 10. I think we underestimate the value of that for men. Girls love a good outfit, sometimes simply for the shopping experience, but a guy needs to feel good!! MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!

Getcha SOME!!

Love what I do!! I have the best job ever in that I get to make people's wedding dreams come true and now I get to be a part of an AMAZING company!!!

J Hill

The past week I have eat, slept, run and done J Hilburn!

I seriously cant get enough of it. I am so excited to have joined their team and become a style advisor and partner with this great company.

I trained this past week and have since been measuring and fitting people like crazy! Check out our fall line at www.jhilburn.com and see my favorite thing we do below:

A custom shirt. with whatever detail, stitching, fit and style you could think of.

Jeff always had to wear shirts that were too big because his arms are long...problem solved...a custom shirt that has longer arms with a slimmer body. Its so great!! He just looks yummy in his shirts now!!

We do cashmere sweaters that you will want to nap with, pants that fit like a glove, and outerwear that will make you wish for snow! Its custom fabrics that Neimans carriers...at about 1/3 of the cost! I am so excited to be doing this!! If you are interested in getting fitted or getting your spouse fitted, email me at dana.douthit@jhilburnpartner.com.

Ill keep you guys updated on what we have next, and of course my model (husband) will be sporting the latest and greatest soon!

Shout Out Mondays...

Happy Labor Day bloggers...

I have been stumbling on all these great finds lately not necessarily pertaining to weddings so I am going to start mentioning every Monday because I know you would love to hear about them!

Do any of you guys take protein shakes? I totally recommend doing it even if its not for weight loss- take it for muscle recovery after runs or hard work outs.

Anyway here is the best protein powder I have found yet!

http://www.mothersoy.com/

It sounds cheesy...and the website looks a little cheesy to but its the best protein I have found. Just 2 scoops is 70 calories and has the fiber of 6 apples and the protein of a dozen eggs. Its tasteless which actually means it doesnt taste very good so I mix it with 8oz of soy milk, a scoop of Ovaltine, half of a banana, and 4 ice cubes. Its amazing!!

Have a great holiday! Im enjoying the day off working on some winter weddings, J Hilburn and finishing decor on our new apartment.

J. Hilburn

Well...I have entered a new business venture and I couldn't be more excited! Here is how we began...

This is my man...

He is a big buff guy who looks great in a suit and LOVES being in a suit. Unfortunately, t-shirts are the only thing that really fits him.

I set out to find him clothes that were as nice as Neimans but more a Banana Republic price...

I discovered J. Hilburn. A Company that does completely affordable clothes with high quality fabrics imported and crafted in Italy and have comparable patterns to the Sax, Nordstrom, and Neimans. Jeff loves his clothes and now is fitted so that any time he wants something we can call our representative and order a shirt. They will come custom to Jeff and embriodered with his initials.

Look at all the patterns!!

As I got to know people from their team I knew this was something I had to be a part of!! So here I am and loving it. Look for pictures of Jeff in his new threads soon!

Contact me if you would be interested in getting your groom in J. Hilburn!

7 pounds in 7 days...or 2pounds in 4 days?

Wow...I am not the best at intense dieting for experiment sake...much easier to make excuses. I lost some weight and definitely made healthier decisions, but in all the great restaurants we have in Dallas very few have healthy clean items...so I warn you, if you attempt it, you should probably decide to just eat at home for the week!

So here is one thing I started eating this week that was perfect when I got a sweet craving...
http://www.lunabar.com/products/minis/original

Luna Minis...80 calories and filling. I keep them everywhere and they contain nutrients women need. $9.99 for a box of 18 at Target!!

Flavored water packets:

These helped soo much when I was craving something besides water. Each one is 5 calories and so delicious!

Happy Saturday!

Panic Diet for Brides-7 days and 7 pounds

So its a week before the big day and your dress is a little tight. You meant to get serious and hit the gym harder but you got busy! Planning your wedding can be difficult with a job and or while in school! I have a great diet that I am trying right now to see if its effective.

Reasons I love it:
-You still get to eat
-It develops healthy habits
-Its very clean
-It produces fast results

Reasons its so hard:
-You basically have to eat at home
-It kicks out almost all carbs
-You are cutting calories and keeping a good work out in your schedule
-It isn't caffeine lover friendly

7 days of this:

Breakfast (pre-workout): Protein shake
Breakfast (post work out): Scrambled eggs (5 egg whites & 1 whole egg) with one grapefruit
Lunch: 1 chicken breast and a small side salad with lemon juice
Snack: 1/3 cup berries, 1/2 low fat cottage cheese and 5 almonds
Dinner: 6oz ham or lean meat with 1 cup steamed broccoli
Snack: 1/3 cup plain yogurt with one scoop protein powder

Drink: one cup of coffee a day, green tea and lots of WATER

Ok So I work and I don't do grapefruit or cottage cheese...so here is what mine looks like:

Breakfast: Protein shake
Snack: Greek yogurt, strawberries
Lunch: 1 chicken breast and a small side salad with lemon juice
Snack: 1/2 luna bar and berries
Dinner: 6oz ham or lean meat with 1 cup steamed broccoli or green beans
Snack: 1/3 cup plain yogurt with one scoop protein powder

It can be challenging (especially with work lunches and dinner with friends) but anyone can do anything for ONE WEEK and its set to loose weight quickly!!! I am on day 2, a little tired (because normally I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day) and my stomach is growling still adjusting. Ill let you know how it goes!!

Stay tuned...

Forsberg Wedding, June 19th

WOW...this wedding was a BLAST from start to finish!! Lori Lynn Forsberg was an amazing bride. She knew exactly what she wanted, was so organized, extremely created, and completely original. From the location we found, to the redneck surprise this wedding was an adventure. It took place at the Sanford House in Arlington, TX. CLICK HERE!! if you are looking for a great venue because it is COMPLETELY worth looking at. It was intimate and had a great staff. Here are a few pictures of the villa I stayed in.

This is the bathroom

The bedroom

The dining area

Every room is welcomed with hot, fresh chocolate chip cookies (their signature recipe) and their homemade lemonade. Its amazing!!

The wedding had lots of details but ended up being beautiful. The courtyard had so much natural outdoor decor that we didnt need much. The colors were ivory, navy and paprika. SO original. SO beautiful.

Each guest got a fan with the paprika and navy F, a program and a menu...so creative. They also had a painting of all the wedding colors in a beautiful image as their back drop. Sundee Corley is the artist and is SO talented.

The DJ was Brandon Williams- BEST DJ I have ever worked with and just so you know how serious I am- he DJ's for the Cowboys! OMG!! Check him out here!

Chris Ossenfort was the photographer- pictures of his coming soon! Check him out here!!

I love what I do! Here is me getting ready for the rehearsal! Hahaha

Tanning Turnout!!

Hey Bloggers- sorry for the delay wedding season is hitting hard and fast! I am learning how to balance everything which can be tricky sometimes. Thanks for sticking with me despite the busyness. So back to tanning cream- I LOVE Seven Nyne. It is packaged cute, smells like melon and honey, goes on smooth and was a total success. My camera is down, and the iphone pictures were not doing justice of the effects- so I decided to use my friend Amanda Marley as a great example! She used Seven Nyne tanning cream right before a wedding she was in. The results are fabulous! Check it out below. You can purchase Seven Nyne at the North Park Sephora- its sold out at The Galleria and Stonebriar.
