Confessions of a Momma to Be

Hi Bloggers,

I anticipate not alot of updates from me until the baby comes. The first tri-mester monster has come back here in the third trimester and taken all my energy and regular appetite.

Many women wear pregnancy really well. They nest, and glow and explore baking and finish the nursery months in advance. To be honest, I always thought this is how I would be. I thought I would be so on top of it and ahead of the game but I am not.

I do the opposite of nest. I used to be a nester. Who had to have everything spick and spam, Decor up on all the walls in the whole apartment within the first week we move in and super wife. Ha. We have lived in our new apartment over a month and all the walls are not done. Laundry has stacked to new heights, changing the sheets on the bed prompts a nap, and i just vacuumed for the first time. YIKES. I cooked one time in the past month. Two bakings....and the nursery. Is a room full of great potential but it is definitely not done.

Old me would not know what to do with this new me. Old me would have probably judged this girl I have currently become but here is why I am so grateful the Lord has taken me through this season. I need help, I am not super woman, and all accomplishments I have had are all because the Lord has empowered me to do so. I am learning its ok to ask for help, and to not have it all together for a facebook album. It's most important that I am ready to shepherd and mother. It isn't about me looking the part, which I realize I really get stuck on, but being the part. I can nap, or rest or get worn out at easy tasks.

I have 7 almost 6 weeks until my due date, and I feel like baby will come early because I keep counting on the baby to arrive right on time and on my schedule. Haha- that is not how life works.

My favorite read right now, that I highly recommend to mom-to-be's to read to prepare your heart for baby is:

Its sooo good. It challenges you to prepare for the things that really matter and she has lots of examples from her own life.
READ it.

So for these next 6 weeks...hopefully I will update when the baby room is done because it really is going to be adorable!

Until then-

Pregnant in Heels

Anyone obsessed with Bravo like me? I could TOTALLY give up ALL other channels as long as I can keep Bravo...I admit I used to be obsessed with all the house wives shows and then I realized its the worst thing in the world I could be putting in my head as I am about to be a mom who will not have a personal assistant and full time nannies...anyone back to my point...hubs and I enjoy many shows like millionaire match maker and Bethenney ever after but me...I am OBSESSED with Pregnant in Heels...

A. because I have learned all kinds of things about baby-proofing
B. because Rosie Pope is presh
C. because no matter how many books you read, or how big of a staff you have, or how mommy natured you are...every woman has fears entering into motherhood.

Every mom struggles with the body changes, delivery anxieties, future unknowns and the overwhelming feeling that you wont be enough for the baby.

Some updates....

ANy moms out there struggling to get protein down? Welcome to your solution...I drink a boost high protein, chocolate flavored every morning and its 15 grams of protein. I put it on ice or blend it with ice and its scrumptious!!

Next favorite thing....these vitamins you can find at whole foods...its a gummy little treat and full of omegas! Thanks Lou Lou for introducing me!!

Besides my amazing husband surprising me with a PRE NATAL MASSAGE and a little shopping spree for my first mothers day, this also made my day...Do I not work with the sweetest ladies ever!!!?

And for you non-facebookers- say hello to 6 months pregnant Dana Douthit...its pretty CRAZY!!

Happy Mothers Day to all you momma's out there...my respect for you has gone WAYY up!!

UPdates!!

Hey bloggies,

HAPPY EASTER!! Hubs and I have been celebrating since Thursday when my pretty pretty sister came in town from Tech! Love this girl!

She is a junior in nursing school at Tech and the most focused student I have ever seen. I wish I loved school as much as Gu does. Anyway we hung out with her, saw Water for Elephants (LOVEd but you must read the book!), got pedicures, shopped, and went to church friday night. Hubs didnt get to do all of these things because he was keeping the city safe during most of these times.

Meet my perfect niece Blakely on the day she was born....

Now Check HER OUT!
O.M.G the cutest little bunny on the planet....so glad we got to spend Easter with her and fam!

Then I made these delicious wraps...you can find the super easy recipe HERE from my friend Erynn's blog
Chicken wraps...Jeffy and I LOVED these!!!
Say hello to the sweetest gift ever....I co-lead a small group of AMAZING SMU freshman and they threw me a little bebe shower and we painted these onesies...this is them drying in the back of my car. I love them.

So that is what I have been up to lately...

The Lord has been working on me too. This becoming a mom thing is SUCH a refinement process. So many selfish desires have been revealed to me and the Lord is teaching me to release them. As my body changes and I grow out of each pair of jeans I fight the lie that its a bad thing, and at the same time I have to fight the lie that I can eat everything in sight. I find myself driving down the road and imagining my baby in the back...and the fact that in just 4 months I WILL SEE a baby back there. I feel so undeserving of this bundle and sometimes not enough for he/she as well. It does make me however, so thankful for a father who loves me and gives me ALL that I need. So refreshing.

Well I am off to visit THIS lady tomorrow in HUNTSVILLE and can't wait. She was one of the most influential people in my during college and I lOVE that we have kept up!

More blogging to come!!

21 weeks...

Hi Friends and happy 21 weeks to Baby D...

Updates:

Baby D has double his/her activity. He/she likes to kick momma's attention at about 10am (I think while deep in dreams) and then around 10am until 2am like he/she is at the circus...

I am soo sure its a boy that I would be quite shocked if it was a girl so you will probably start hearing me call he/she just he. Dont get me wrong...a girl would make my world but so would this little boy that I think is growing right now!

I popped out in weeks 19-21...crazy. SO crazy. I am officially wearing maternity clothes and a few of my old pants...but not many.

I have packed up most shirts in my closet...mostly because we are moving in a month but also because none of it will be on me this summer.

We started registering...which is a ball.

I started a baby journal I call, "Dear little one" so they can know all kinds of things about me to read some day...I always thought it would be fun.

I eat, sleep, dream nursery decor...and researching product reviews and best selling baby products...

Here is a small growth chart...

11 weeks...no bump just showing you my little lime
 12 weeks0 forcing evidence of a bump!
 14 weeks- it has arrived!
 18 weeks...baby is being stubborn
20 weeks!!! Hi baby bump and first maternity shirt from my sweet high school bestie- Amanda!
20 weeks- baby is the length of a banana....loving every minute of this sweet gift from the Lord.

Half way there and it FLEW by...bring on the move, hot summer, and then my sweet little one!!

Perks, pains and oh so Pregnant

So being pregnant has its hilarious advantages.

You get an excuse to act a little crazier. You get to be waited on. You can talk about things that would normally make people uncomfortable...like what is going on inside you and the development of your baby...which has been really funny for me because I am normally the person that gags on Grey's Anatomy or gets sick at the sight of your blood pressure being taken. But for this baby inside me, I love getting to know every detail about the development. Maybe because we ARE NOT finding out if its a boy or a girl until it is in my arms this August....I know its CRAZY. The most control happy woman on the planet is NOT FINDING OUT...if I can do it sister...anyone can....

But here are the down sides...I get the flu every Spring. The kind that I get two flu shots to prepare, take vitamin C every day and still am out for the week on pain medicine. Well I got a virus going around this weekend...that involves a NASTY cough, flem, a SUCKER PUNCH type headache, body ache, and some VOMit...not fun....

So then I call my doctor to find out what I can take...NOTHING but regular extra strength Tylenol...wow...oh and I can have as much water and Gatorade as I want...woohoo. Anyway I hope things start looking up today...its going around my whole family lasting 3-5 days...beware world. I think its going around every where.

OK so now on to my STRETCH MARK REMEDY...or as I like to call it, my magic potion. So I did a lot of research on these creams because there are so many out there. They cost about $30-50  for a travel size tube so I wondered can I make this my self? Well my hair dresser told me she didn't get any stretch marks and she applied a home mix of cocoa butter and vitamin C oil every night before bed.

Well BabyCenter.com and Fit Pregnancy all recommend vitamin E oil. So I ventured over to Whole Foods and purchased this great smelling, hydrating goodness:

Jason is the bomb.com....and smells like a beach
I am a HUGE fan of Dove products so I have been using the cream oil with shea butter...
This is another fav shea butter lotion also...I change out between this one and the DOVE. This one can be a little more sticky because its all organic but it smells like lavendar fields and mixed with the vitamin E oil makes for a constantly soft mommy-to be.

The vitamin E oil goes a long way so use very carefully. I use two little drops for each stretch mark vulnerable region.

So...I am home for the third day in a row sick. Pack on the anti-oxidants, vitamin C, green tea and stay away from the sickly (no matter how much you love them) because NOTHING is worse than being sick and PREG....the only thing I can take is tylenol extra strength....thats it.

For a cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat, body ache...this does not do much....its horrible. So today I am backing on the berries, green tea, and vitamin C.

Hopefully I will join you the public tomorrow...
